TESTIMONIALS

Hello, hi
My name is Elisha Maye Veldhuijzen...
but you can call me Lish. I'm the voice behind Yin Essence. This space reflects my journey — one fuelled by curiosity, guided by impartiality, and held by empathy.
I'm a licensed Acupuncturist (CTCMA) and a Reiki Master of the Usui Ryoho lineage. My background spans photojournalism, floristry and Applied Theatre, but my passion lies in creating balance and exploring what it means to be human. This perspective shapes my approach to health and wellness.
Though bios are often written in the third person, I prefer a personal touch, At Yin Essence it's just me, which means you'll likely experience my presence and skills firsthand. I graduated in 2021 from Pacific Rim College in Victoria, B.C. and have practiced acupressure since 2019. My Education is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, influenced by Taoism and I've spent over a decade dedicated to holistic wellness as a Reiki Master and Shi Liao (food therapy) coach.
Like many, I've faced challenges that tested my resilience. I share this to connect and show it's OK to be imperfect. I'm passionate about mental and emotional wellness, helping others find balance and regulation. I take a holistic approach to health, teaching QiGong and Shi Liao to empower patients towards happiness and fulfilment.
Originally from Brisbane, Australia I grew up immersed in multiculturalism. At 20, I lived in Europe and immigrated to Canada 19 years ago. Now, as an exploring toast, I bring compassion and cultural richness to every treatment. I practice Traditional Chinese Medicine and Reiki throuhg a trauma-informed, gender-inclusive and LGBTQIA-ally lens.
WhenI'm not treating patients, you'll find me hiking and foraging in Vancouver Island's magical forests with my dog, Fardy Girl.
